Abstract
The session will define academic identity and present obstacles that hindered the development positive academic identity. Through Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (CRP), a framework of teaching that promotes social justice, we explore how educators can support the learning needs of diverse groups of students across multiple content areas. We exam a major historical events tied to scientific discoveries and then new ways to approach lessons from a more culturally inclusive standpoint using CRP. Our research will help educators to be more reflective and inclusive in their teaching practices in order to give all students a proverbial seat at the table.
