Abstract
This article reflects on how higher education is managed in Colombia, using as a case study the National University of Colombia, which is considered to be the most important public university in the country. It shows the political-administrative problems involved in governing schools with uniform and unidirectional criteria, as well as the constant and growing loss of legitimacy on the part of administrative bodies, the constraints on student�s autonomy, and the absence of a participatory democracy in the way universities are governed. The article also includes part of the history of the National University of Colombia, and looks at how it is managed currently and some of the facts and events that differentiate and characterize its academia, so as to propose possible and desirable ways of governing higher education in Colombia.
Este artigo é uma reflexão sobre a governança do ensino superior na Colômbia. Como estudo de caso, apresenta à Universidad Nacional de Colombia, o maior centro de universidade pública no país. Este estudo descreve os problemas político-administrativos que envolvem governar as instituições de ensino com critérios uniformes e unidirecionais, bem como a perda constante e crescente de legitimidade dos órgãos administrativos, a restrição à autonomia dos alunos e a falta de democracia participativa no governo das universidades. Este artigo inclui uma parte da história da Universidad Nacional de Colombia, a forma atual de sua administração e alguns fatos característicos de sua academia. Finalmente, oferece formas possíveis e desejáveis de governo no ensino superior na Colômbia.
Se hace una reflexión acerca del gobierno de la educación superior en Colombia, que toma como estudio de caso a la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, la cual se considera como el centro público universitario más importante del país. Este estudio expone los problemas de índole político-administrativa que acarrea el gobernar establecimientos educativos con criterios homogéneos y unidireccionales, así como la constante y creciente pérdida de legitimidad de los entes administrativos, la limitación de la autonomía de los estudiantes y la ausencia de una democracia participativa en el gobierno de las universidades. También se incluye una parte de la historia de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, así como la actual conformación de su administración y algunos hechos que marcan y caracterizan su academia, para finalmente proponer las formas de gobierno posibles y deseables en la educación superior en Colombia.

Export search results
