The goal of this thesis is to understand the imagined and subjective meaning of the action of the cuban revolutionary of the 26th July movement during insurrection rebellion (fight ou dispute)(1952 to 1958). Our hypothesis is that this social action was marked by political revolutionary asceticism, that is, by one kind of action in that the agent feels as an instrument of pure and noble values of the revolutionary cause. The ascetic revolutionary is quite different from the pragmatic revolutionary since its action is not faced as a rational way to reach the aim systematically desired. On the contrary, its action is, mainly, a task to be accomplished. We analyzed, from this point, the revolutionary sacrifice as a way of bringing back to the corrupted world the pure and noble values and we noticed how the ideal of the body was presented in the discourses of the Cuban rebellions.

As

This article aims to reflect on the impacts of globalization economy in contemporary culture. The accelerated transformation of culture and of social relations differs from other processes of structural changes because change in the field of economy have caused serious cultural crisis since the 1980s. What best characterizes the new era is the expansion of market that has increasingly been all embracing and omnipresent, thus transforming human relations in market relations. Neoliberal globalization and the expansion of market articulate themselves thus producing a deep crisis of culture. Rationalization produced by modernity has reduced human being and nature to productive interests. Crisis in early modernity brings out another reduction: the one of reason replaced by sensation. In this way one can say that it has emerged a radical individualism and even a kind of indifferentism as well as the refusal to look for a sense or a meaning to the experience and human life. This reality presents some risks to Christianity and religions. They may succumb to the temptation of the market, satisfaction of desire and hiper egoic enjoyment, with double consequence: or by offering a religion based on consumerism and on economic prosperity, or by offering a fundamentalistic perspective that leads believers to renounce their autonomy and submit themselves to the religious leaders of the "Symbolic Order". This articles ends up by presenting the most recent criticism of Christianity to this reality, returning to the thought of the popes John XXIII, Paul VI and John Paul II.

    • O społecznej koncepcji i jej artystycznym wcieleniu w Ostapie Bondarczuku Józefa Ignacego Kraszewskiego

Uniwersytet Narodowy w Kamieńcu Podolskim im. Iwana Ohijenka, Katedra Filologii Słowiańskiej i Językoznawstwa Ogólnego; dummuzi@ukr.net; Abramowycz, Semen (Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego, 2022-03-29)
The article highlights the fact that the author’s deep setting consists in opposing the eddy currents of modernity and the bright “Napoleonic” possibilities of the era to a certain hidden metaphysical program, which would be perceived by positivists as “natural”. Nevertheless, but the writer himself interpreted it more in the spirit of romanticized Christian folk wisdom. Ultimately, Krashevski’s perspective for a person to go beyond the limits of his class and the mentality conditioned by it, to “liberate himself,” is hampered by the persistence of this original program. Theprogram is based on the biblical-folklore archetype of the primordial physical-social inequality of people, equal only in original sin. For all the sincerity of the count’s desire to turn Ostap into “his”, into “Eustachiy”, with all the efforts of the latter to justify the hopes of the new parents, the central character does not show daring, the ability to seriously go beyond the stencil predetermined by birth and the first years of life. And the fact that Ostap, against his will, “changed his fate”, did not make him really free and happy. A genuine change in social role is achieved not by “fabulous” mercy from the outside, but by personal hard work and selfless devotion: this would be of interest to the positivist. In other words, we are still dealing with a fundamentally romantically integral mono-character of the protagonist. On the other hand, J.I Krashevski only partially and very fluently used the positivist individual methods of depicting a person in a dynamic environment as additional material, which enriched the author’s style, but did not change his artistic method.

    • Occupational Justice Concerns for Muslim Refugees in the United States

Adams, Emily; Peterson, Megan (UND Scholarly Commons, 2018-01-01)
Background: Individuals are being displaced at alarming rates and many are from countries with a Muslim majority. Countries are beginning to study the effects of trauma and displacement on quality of life for refugees. The United States however, is lacking in studies involving health care, quality of life, and occupational justice concerns with Muslim refugees. Objectives: To identify the experiences of Muslim refugees resettling in the United States and the resulting occupational justice issues, using Occupational Perspective of Health (Wilcock & Hocking, 2015) as an overarching theory. Methods: Participants were obtained through convenience and snowball sampling. Participants had to be classified as a refugee and self-identify as Muslim to be included in the study. Each participant was interviewed twice utilizing a semi-structured interview with an interpreter as needed. Interviews were recorded, transcribed and coded into themes. Results: A total of 5 individuals participated. Four themes emerged from the study. Doing represents the daily aspects of the participants’ lives, and the activities they are able or unable, due to barriers, to participate in. Being Muslim in America describes the identity of the participants as Muslim refugees and American together. The third theme, Do I belong?, describes conflicting feelings of belonging and not belonging. Discrimination was a main factor in making the participants feel as they were “other”. The final theme, Becoming, underlines how the occupations of resettling and transitioning to American life have changed the participants. Conclusion: Refugees have many stressors in resettlement. Financial difficulties and language barrier were the largest issues. Having institutional and social support can make the transition easier. However, more research needs to be conducted to fully understand the effects of resettlement on the occupational wellbeing of Muslim refugees in the U.S. and how to combat these issues. Significance: Due to increasing number of refugees worldwide, it is imperative that the United States government understand the difficulties these refugees face when resettling. Occupational therapists can be utilized in resettlement to address many of these issues.
    • Ocean of Suffering, Ocean of Compassion: Person, Environment, Self, and World in Social Work and Zen Buddhism

      Mukerji, Siddhesh (Loyola eCommons, 2021-01-01)
The person-in-environment perspective (PIE) is a foundational element of social work, and the way in which we interpret the person-environment relationship profoundly shapes our understanding of social work practice. However, a lack of research that systematically explores how unique worldviews interpret the person-environment relationship limits the field's ability to grow from humanity's manifold ways of being and knowing. This study helps fill this gap by illuminating: (1) How Zen Buddhist teachers who respond to suffering in ways that overlap with social work activities understand and experience their relationship to other beings and to the world; (2) How this understanding of relationship guides their work, and; (3) How this understanding of relationship alters social work's conceptualization of "person-in-environment" and "practice." Buddhist perspectives can help expand social work's philosophical diversity and provide fresh insights for the field because, while both social work and Buddhism are frameworks for responding to suffering, they often approach this goal from radically different worldviews. To illuminate this topic, I conducted standardized, open-ended interviews with a purposive sample of 35 Zen teachers in the United States. This research was guided by Baert's (2005) neo-pragmatist paradigm, employed a thematic analysis approach to interpreting interview data, and culminates in three theoretical propositions: bodyheartmindworld, oceanic compassion, and being-action. Bodyheartmindworld is a vision of the self-world relationship in which all beings are unique, yet inseparable, manifestations of a dynamic, whole reality. Oceanic compassion describes the impulse to serve others that arises from a recognition that all beings are

Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences; Instytut Historii Polskiej Akademii Nauk; Ptaszyński, Maciej (1978– ) (Instytut Historii PAN, 2019)
In the article the author discusses anti-Lutheran polemics published in the Kingdom of Poland during the rule of Sigismund I and asks about the shape of Reformation movement, which developed in spite of numerous bans imposed by the king. The author proves that although these polemics were explicitly against “Lutherans,” they were often created as a result of clashes with other theologies of the emerging Protestantism. Works created by the lower-status Church employees were not novel, and their range of influence must have been limited.

    • Old ‘counter-revolution’, new ‘terrorism’ : historicizing the framing of violence in Xinjiang by the Chinese state

      Rodríguez-Merino, Pablo A. (Routledge, 2019)
China has declared a war on terrorism in Xinjiang, identifying violence in the region as a top security threat. However, what nowadays is officially constructed as ‘terrorism’ was framed as ‘counter-revolution’ in the past. Informed by the concept of macrosecuritization and the agenda of critical terrorism studies, this article examines the changing nature of Chinese state framing of violence in Xinjiang. Through a comparative analysis of the discursive construction of the Baren (1990) and Maralbeshi (2013) violent incidents, I find that the terror lexicon has replaced old narratives of counter-revolution to legitimize a sustained crackdown under a novel geopolitical context. The construction of violence in Xinjiang as terrorism, I argue, is contingent, limited and unstable. It marginalizes factors other than an extremist or separatist agency in the incubation of the violence, in particular the frictions created by the crackdown with which the Chinese government is trying to placate the unrest.

    • Omanarvontunnon voimavaralähtöinen tukeminen työhön kuntoutuksessa

Helsingin yliopisto, Teologinen tiedekunta; University of Helsinki, Faculty of Theology; Helsingfors universitet, Teologiska fakulteten; Martikainen, Jenny (Helsingin yliopistoUniversity of HelsinkiHelsingfors universitet, 2020)
Pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkastellaan työllisyydenhoitoa omanarvontunnon ja ihmisarvon näkökulmasta. Tutkimuskysymykseni ovat: 1) Miten ihmisarvo tulee esiin työllisyydenhoitoon liittyvässä lainsäädännössä? 2) Miten kuntouttavassa sosiaalityössä voidaan parantaa työttömän työ- ja toimintakykyä tukemalla hänen omanarvontuntoaan voimavaralähtöisesti?
Tutkielmassa työhön kuntoutusta käsitellään työllistämistä edistävän monialaisen yhteispalvelun (TYP) kontekstissa. TYP-toiminnassa luodaan pitkäaikaistyöttömälle yksilöllinen palvelukokonaisuus Kelan kuntoutuspalveluista, työvoimapalveluista ja kunnan sosiaali- ja terveyspalveluista. Moniammatillisen yhteistyön taustalla on kuntouttavan sosiaalityön ja työvoimapalveluiden erilaisia tavoitteita koskeva eettinen ristiriita. Työvoimaviranomaisilla tavoitteena on työllistyminen ja sosiaalityössä laajemmat elämäntilanne- ja hyvinvointitavoitteet. Tutkielmassa pyritään selvittämään sosiaalityön merkitystä ja tarpeellisuutta TYP:ssä sosiaalieettisestä näkökulmasta.
Tutkielma jakaantuu kolmeen osaan. Ensimmäisessä osassa selvennetään ihmisarvon ja ihmisoikeuksien käsitteiden suhdetta, ja niiden esiintymistä työllisyydenhoitoon liittyvässä lainsäädännössä. Toisessa osassa käsitellään työhön kuntouttavaa sosiaalityötä dialogisessa ja asiakaslähtöisessä kohtaamisessa. Kolmannessa osassa pohditaan ratkaisukeskeisten voimavaralähtöisten valmennusmenetelmien hyödyntämistä omanarvontunteen ja toimintakyvyn tukemisessa, sekä niiden hyödyntämistä työhön kuntouttavassa sosiaalityössä. Tutkimus on aineistolähtöinen kirjallisuuskatsaus, jossa käytetään menetelmänä sisällönanalyysia.
    • On a Path Toward International Recognition: Physician-Assisted Suicide as an Emerging Human Rights Norm

      Schmitz, Lucy (2017)
Physician-assisted suicide is a form of end-of-life care wherein a doctor provides a lethal dose of medication for a patient to use of his or her own volition, which has become increasingly legalized since 1994. This trend in legalization, the convincing human rights-based arguments in favor of physician-assisted suicide, and the comportment of the practice with existing international human rights law and norms leads to two core claims. First, I argue that access to physician-assisted suicide is itself a right even though it is not codified in any treaty because it is an emerging norm. Second, based on an observed trend toward accelerated legalization in increasing numbers states, and because of trends in public opinion around this issue and related topics such as political and religious affiliation, I foresee that legalization will continue apace, and accelerate in the coming decades, solidifying physician-assisted suicide as an internationally protected human right. The central contribution of this work is extending the existing human rights argument for physician-assisted to make the stronger claim that physician-assisted suicide is a right, and to predict the future of legalization and norm-creation around this form of end-of life care.
