Abstract <br> <br> We are today living in the age of the Internet. It grows fast and things that we used to find on the streets have today shipped and are instead also a part of the phenomenon we like to call the Internet. <br> <br> The purpose of this thesis is to elucidate the issues and opportunities of blogging and study how field assistants can use social forums and blog reading as a method in their work with prevention and outreach work. <br> The method that has been used in order to fulfill the purpose of the thesis and issues of question is a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews. These have been done with field assistants and the blogs have gone through a document analysis. <br> <br> The result of the study shows that teenagers can benefit from the comments being left on their page and bring them a sense of empowerment. Also it has been shown that the field assistants use facebook.com as a platform for their work and some of them use it in both their outreach and prevention work with young people. <br> <br> <br> <br> Key words: youth, Internet, field assistants, empowerment and blogs.Date
