Pemberdayaan Keluarga Yang Memiliki Balita Gizi Kurang Dan Gizi Buruk Di Kelurahan Bagan Deli Kecamatan Medan Belawan Tahun 2014

Abstract

Empowerment means that efforts to improve the ability of the target group so that the target group is able to take appropriate action on a variety of problems experienced. The goal of community empowerment is an effort to make empowered and independent, able to stand on its own feet. One of the community development program that is addressing the problem of malnutrition, especially undernutrition and severe undernutrition. Empowerment activities related to behavior. The goals of this research to know the profile and potential of under five years children undernutrition and severe undernutrition’s families to know activity of community empowerment. Empowerment program will not work if people do not want to be empowered behavior. The research used qualitative method. The data were gathered by conducting observation, in-depth interview, and documentation of audio visual media. Subject of research is obtained by nine person, there were four key informans and five informans. The key informans consisted of head of neighborhood, public figures who business people and who were active in community’s activities, and public health center personnel. The informans consisted of under five years children undernutrition and severe undernutrition’s families, and also under red line (BGM) under five years’s children. The result of research showed that community empowerment whose ideas and activities were in line community’s need had to be implemented. The activities of community empowerment are the processing of fish to become chips, pies, bakso (meat balls), the processing of salted fish, and the other fish product in form of cooperative business by housewives. The research can broaden and improve knowledge of community empowerment in order to improve nultrition status of the community, especially under five years children undernutrition and severe undernutrition’s families. This community empowerment needs empowerment agents as facilitator who understand community’s needs in order that cooperation among the community, empowerment agents, and the government can be established.
