The aim of this research was to study how non-governmental organizations (NGO:s) are motivating their strategies in their social work with Bedouins in the south of Israel and how these strategies are practiced according to the perspectives of the organizations. The aim was further to investigate how the NGO:s interpret social problems among the Bedouin society and how they consider their work to be useful in improving the lives and their citizen rights. This study was based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with active members of NGO:s working with the Bedouin minority. They represented Adalah, Ajeec-NISPED, Negev Coexistence Forum, Ma’an Develop Center and A New Dawn in the Negev. The result of the study showed that NGO:s are working with community participation, creating leadership, raising awareness, volunteering, and cultural sensitivity. The interviews, further, revealed that organisations play a crucial role in bringing about social change. The analysis of the findings was informed by theories of empowerment and advocacy.Date
