Odottavien perheiden suuterveysneuvonnan kehittäminen Salon terveyskeskuksessa

Abstract

Terveydenhuollon lainsäädäntö on uudistumassa, ja kuntien on tarkistettava, että esimerkiksi odottavien vanhempien suun terveydenhoito vastaa säädöksiä. Uuden, 1.7.2009 voimaan tulleen asetuksen mukaan kunnan tulee tarjota ensisijaisesti ensimmäistä lasta odottaville vanhemmille vähintään yksi suun terveydentilan ja hoidon tarpeen arvio sekä odottaville perheille moniammatillisesti toteutettua vanhempaintoimintaa ja terveysneuvontaa. 
 
 Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli laatia Salon terveyskeskukselle toimintamalli odottavien perheiden suuterveysneuvontaan. Toimintamallin tuli olla toimiva ja mahdollinen toteuttaa. Työn tavoitteena on terveyden edistämisen kehittäminen Salon terveyskeskuksen hammashuollossa sekä pitkällä aikavälillä salolaisten perheiden suun terveyden parantaminen. Opinnäytetyön kohderyhmänä ovat Salon terveyskeskuksen perhevalmennusta toteuttavat suuhygienistit ja ravitsemusterapeutit, toimintamallissa toteutettavan terveyden edistämisen kohteena ovat salolaiset odottavat vanhemmat. Työn toimeksiantajana on Salon terveyskeskuksen hammashuolto. 
 
 Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä, jossa toimintamalli laadittiin tiedonhaun ja Salon terveyskeskuksen suuhygienistien ryhmähaastatteluiden perusteella. Opinnäytetyössä käytetyt terveyden edistämisen lähestymistavat ovat voimavaraistaminen, vuorovaikutuksellinen terveysneuvonta sekä vertaistuki.
 
 Opinnäytetyöprosessissa laadittiin uudenlainen toimintamalli, jonka osa-alueet ovat voimavaraistava ja vuorovaikutuksellinen moniammatillinen perhevalmennustapaaminen, joka toteutetaan terveyskeskustelua ja Learning Cafe -metodia käyttäen, sekä odottavien vanhempien suun terveydentilan selvitys ja hoidon tarpeen arvio suun terveydenhuollossa, jolloin annetaan yksilöllistä terveysneuvontaa aktiivisen kuuntelun ja terveyskeskustelun avulla.

The legislation of health care in Finland is changing, and municipalities have to revise if for example the oral health care of parents-to-be corresponds the regulations. According to a new statute that came into operation July 1st 2009, municipalities have to offer at least one oral health and treatment need assessment as well as multiprofessional parental activities and health education for parents-to-be, especially those who are expecting their first child.
 
 The purpose of this thesis was to compose an operations model of oral health education for families-to-be in Salo health centre. The operations model had to be workable and possible to execute. The aim of the thesis is to develop health promotion in Salo health centre dental care, and in the long run, to improve the oral health of families living in Salo. The target group of this thesis consists of the dental hygienists and dietitians executing family training in Salo health centre. The target group of the health promotion executed in the operations model consists of parents-to-be living in Salo. Salo health centre dental care is the client of this thesis.
 
 The thesis was carried out as a functional thesis. The operations model was based on information retrieval and group interviews of Salo health centre dental hygienists. The health promotion approaches used in this thesis are empowerment, interactive health education and peer support.
 
 A new operations model was composed in the thesis process. It consists of two divisions. The first one is an empowering and interactive multiprofessional family training meeting, which is carried out using health conversation and Learning Cafe method. The other division is an oral health and treatment need assessment for parents-to-be, where individual health education is given through active listening and health conversation.
