Abstract
Distance education (DE) has resulted in significant changes in the Brazilian educational context, especially in higher education, which has been considerably enhanced the openings. The objective of this research is to present the perception of higher education teachers who work in public and private institutions, about the institutionalization and practice of distance education. This is a research interpretive, exploratory. Data collection involved document analysis and in-depth interviews with six teachers in higher education have been intentionally selected, in the states of Santa Catarina and São Paulo. The results of the narrative analysis showed that the perspective of DE, from the perspective of teachers, is focused on a critical analysis of the educational reality, being that they have followed the movement of the institutions with interest in distance education and demonstrate concerned with the direction the expansion of the modality, especially with regard to precarious of the teaching role at the expense of overvaluation of technology and reduce educational costs. Concerning the vision of the future of DE there are differences in Brazil - apparently, some tend to be optimistic while others tend to be pessimistic. Is understood that the expansion of the distance learning in higher education is an important process for the Brazilian educational reality, as controversial, hence the relevance of this study.
La educación a distancia ha dado lugar a cambios significativos en el contexto educativo brasileño, especialmente en la educación superior, lo que ha ampliado considerablemente las aberturas. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar la percepción de los profesores de enseñanza superior que trabajan en instituciones públicas y privadas, en la institucionalización y la práctica de la educación a distancia. Se trata de una investigación interpretativa, exploratoria. La recolección de datos implicó el análisis de documentos y entrevistas en profundidad con seis profesores de enseñanza superior que fueron seleccionados intencionalmente, en los estados de Santa Catarina y São Paulo. Los resultados del análisis narrativo mostraron que la visión de la educación a distancia desde la perspectiva de los profesores, se vuelve para un análisis crítico de la realidad educativa, siendo que ellos han seguido el movimiento de las instituciones con un interés en la educación a distancia y además se demuestran preocupados por la dirección del modo de expansión, en particular con respecto a la erosión de la función docente, a expensas de la sobrevaloración de la tecnología y la reducción de los costos de la educación. En cuanto a la visión del futuro de la educación a distancia en Brasil hay divergencias - al parecer, algunos tienden a ser optimistas, mientras que otros tienden a ser pesimistas. Se entiende que la ampliación de la modalidad a distancia en la educación superior es tan importante para la realidad educativa brasileña cuanto polémica, de ahí la importancia de este proceso de estudio.
A educação a distância (EaD) tem resultado em mudanças significativas no contexto educacional brasileiro, especialmente no ensino superior, onde tem se ampliado consideravelmente a oferta de vagas. O objetivo desta pesquisa é apresentar a percepção de docentes de ensino superior, que atuam em instituições públicas e privadas, sobre a institucionalização e a prática da EaD. Trata-se de uma pesquisa interpretativista, de caráter exploratório. A coleta de dados envolveu análise documental e entrevistas em profundidade com seis docentes do ensino superior que foram selecionados de forma intencional, nos estados de Santa Catarina e de São Paulo. Os resultados da análise de narrativa apontaram que a perspectiva da EaD, sob a ótica dos docentes, está voltada para uma análise crítica da realidade educacional, sendo que os mesmos têm acompanhado o movimento das instituições com interesse em EaD e se demonstram preocupados com os rumos da expansão da modalidade, principalmente no que se refere à precarização da função docente em detrimento da sobrevalorização da tecnologia e redução de custos educacionais. Quanto à visão do futuro da EaD no Brasil há divergências – aparentemente, alguns tendem a ser otimistas, enquanto outros tendem a ser pessimistas. Compreende-se que a expansão da modalidade a distância no ensino superior é um processo tão importante para a realidade educacional brasileira, quanto controverso, daí a relevância deste estudo.
