Abstract
This article tries to investigate the reasons for which universal access to anti-HIV medicines for all the populations of developing countries became so important in the fight against HIV/AIDS pandemic. However, their wide distribution is not enough if it is not associated to a struggle against the strong social cofactors associated of this disease. In front of social inequalities in health, we can define coverages of the HIV-infection which are at the mean time, of high professional skill, adapted to the context of the persons, and which promote a social link weakened by the disease. Because this access to care is far from being reached, it is possible to propose several ethical marks allowing to base this imperative of the universal access to treatment and to contribute to a renewed commitment against the epidemic.
