Abstract
This short country report, a result of larger Information for Development Program (infodev)-supported survey of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education in Africa, provides a general overview of current activities and issues related to ICT use in education in the country. Zimbabwe has been beleaguered by economic, social, and political turmoil in recent years which has had a debilitating effect on its already-declining education system. The country nevertheless has a dedicated national ICT policy that was adopted in 2005 and that makes significant references to the promotion of ICTs in education including pedagogical use in educational institutions. Zimbabwe also has a vibrant civil society sector that promotes ICT for development and education, of which organizations such as world links Zimbabwe has played a pioneering role since the late 1990s.

    Teachers in Anglophone Africa : Issues in Teacher Supply, Training, and Management

    Based on case studies of education systems and practices in eight English-speaking African countries, the publication closely examines issues of teacher supply, deployment, management and finance. The book suggests that these issues are closely interrelated. Low numbers of qualified teaching graduates may result in teacher shortages; these shortages may make it difficult to deploy teachers effectively. Problems with teacher deployment may result in inefficient utilization of the teachers available, and those teachers effectiveness may be further reduced by weak teacher management and support systems. The book identifies policies and practices that are working on the ground, noting their potential pitfalls and pointing out that policies designed to address one problem may make another problem worse. Teachers in Anglophone Africa offers a useful synthesis of the issues and draws together a series of promising practices, which can serve as positive suggestions for countries seeking to improve their teacher policies.

 policy reforms for developing a better teaching force in
 Indonesia. This report not only can assist the government in
 setting up a future reform agenda, but also add value to
 ongoing educational reform in Indonesia, in terms of
 improving the effectiveness of reform and ensuring its
 institutional and fiscal sustainability.
