Abstract
The article is devoted to secular and religious women’s agency in the framework of two different seasons of the confessional clash between Catholics and Protestants in the Early Modern Spanish Low-Countries. These women were catholic militants. The topic allow to follow changes in relation with female agency’s boundaries according to different periods: from the shocking time of Protestant first impact to the Catholic reset after the council of Trent. The analysis is based on printed and unprinted female texts, according to their context of production (the Erasmian humanism and the catholic and Spanish reconquest). The poetess and school teacher Anna Bijns as well as discalced Spanish Carmelites Ana de Jesús and Ana de San Bartolomé lived in Brussels and Antwerp. Donne attive in quanto militanti cattoliche.
