Jewish women freed from slave camp

Abstract

Liberated Jewish women are cutting up the first meat they have seen in years.

"GERMANY -- U.S. Ninth Army troops have liberated Jewish women from a forced labor camp where they were sent and kept alive only because they were strong and healthy. The girls were used as slave laborers in a German munitions factory. They were gathered from all Nazi-occupied countries. Each has a yellow cross on her back. Everyone in the camp, including children, has a number tattooed on left arm. The women pictured are cutting up the first meat they have seen in years.
