Fournissant un aperçu rapide de l’institutionnalisation des études féministes en Roumanie dans les années 1990, cet article s’interroge sur le contexte de ce processus, mis en relation avec des opportunités fournies par l’action au sein des ONG, plus largement par les programmes transnationaux de promotion des droits des femmes dans le contexte de la démocratisation des pays ex-communistes. Plusieurs usages du genre sont tour à tour mis en lumière. Il s’agit d’abord des usages de la notion même, qui s’installe peu à peu dans le discours public roumain pour faire référence aux femmes et aux questions liées à l’égalité entre les sexes. Des usages proprement dit sociaux de la thématique du « genre » sont abordés dans un second temps, pour montrer son appropriation par des acteurs en voie d’affirmation dans un espace académique en mutation et sa conversion en ressource utile au sein des luttes de positionnement entre professionnels des sciences sociales.<br>Providing a brief overview of the feminist studies’ institutionalization in 1990s Romania, the paper analyses the context of this process, closely connected to some opportunities coming from the NGOs’ action and generally from the transnational programs promoting women’s rights within the democratization of the ex-communist countries. Various uses of gender are then reviewed. First, we insist on the uses of the notion itself, who entered the contemporary Romanian public discourse in order to refer to women and to the equality between men and women. Second, we look at the strictly social uses of the gender themes and we show how they are appropriated by young members of the academic community and mobilized as a cultural ressource in the professional struggles that characterize a restructurating social sciences field.Date
