American Women's Fight for Equality

Abstract

Despite the fact that the
 USA is the symbol of democracy and equality, the women of the United States had to fight a
 long way even against the opposition of the male part of their society in order to gain equal
 rights, opportunities and fair deal. In my thesis I would like to give an overall picture of the
 hardships American women have had to face during their fight for equality together with the
 social and historical effects having influence on the status of women in the American society.
 In my thesis I would like to focus on the changes of the image of American women, the
 changes of women’s roles in the family, the most important stages of the education of women,
 women’s importance in the labour force, their representation and roles in politics and finally
 their participation in the army. My thesis aims to describe the main stages and changes and
 possible reasons of changes in the above mentioned fields.
