Abstract
Most women in underdeveloped countries search for their health without autonomy. The object of this work is to analyze through history the dilution of women’s knowledge about health and knowledge of their own body, as a legacy from the Western Medical Practice. The information is based on specialized literature, thus elaborating an analysis by the focus on gender and health, which shows how from the belladonna to the midwife, women’s knowledge is still considered marginal in the framework of the hegemonic medicine.
