This article explores the theatrical estrategies that documentary genre develops to create an effect of reality. For this aim it will be analyzed the Basilio Martín Patino’s production for television Andalucía, a century of fascination, a serie of five documentaries filmed from 1992 to 1996 for the public channel Canal Sur Television. These films will be compared to previous work of Martin Patino and to other critics and directors’ points of view regarding documentary genre and simulation of objetivity in visual media. As methodology it will be discus the concept of “materialist history” in Walter Benjamin.<br><br>Este artículo explora las estrategias teatrales desarrolladas por el género documental para crear un efecto de realidad. Con este objetivo se analizará la producción para televisión de Basilio Martín Patino <i>Andalucía, un siglo de fascinación</i>, una serie de cinco documentales filmados entre 1992 y 1996 para la cadena pública Canal Sur Televisión. Estas películas serán comparadas con trabajos anteriores de Martín Patino y con el punto de vista de críticos y directores en relación a las prácticas documentales y la creación de un efecto de objetividad en los medios audiovisuales. Como metodología se aplicará el concepto de “historia material” desarrollado por Walter Benjamin.Date

THE RECRUITMENT OF YOUNG PEOPLE FOR R&D ACTIVITY AND THE ISSUE OF GENDER EQUALITY – THE CASE OF SLOVENIAFranc Mali; Blanka Jelnikar; Maja Škafar (Universidad de Valladolid, 2010-06-01)In the last few years European Union and its member states are facing with a big policy challenge how to increase the human resources in R&D activities and how to attract young people for entering science careers, first of all women. Although the participation of women in science has increased in recent decades, they are still too often dispriviliged and underrepresented in everyday scientific practice. In the article, there is addressed the case of Slovenia. There is analysed the recruitment of young female researchers in “The Young Research Programme” in Slovenia and mentor’s support to the female PhD candidates. The results of empirical study show that regardless of the efficiency of “The Young Research Programme” it has not succeeded in improving the gender structure of young researchers in Slovenia. Moreover, the authors of empirical analysis come to the conclusion, that on the micro level young female researchers receive less intellectual and psychological support from their mentors than their male counterparts.

Literatura, género y moral en el barroco hispano: Pedro de Jesús y sus consejos a <i>«señoras y demás mujeres»</i>Candau Chacón, María Luisa (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas - Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, 2011-06-01)the end of the 17th Century, moral literature aimed at the feminine population continued. No longer at its peak, it still contemplated the appearance of publications destined to the salvation of souls, essentially those of the neediest – women – who were considered more «fragile». Among them, around 1670, a minor work with a significant title appeared: «Very necessary news that all must know so that the way to heaven is smooth for them, since by not knowing and observing them, being capable, an endless number of souls have been condemned, particularly of ladies and other women».
 The author, Pedro de Jesus, represented the continuation of the misogynistic currents so commonplace among the moralists, preachers and confessors of that day. His message was the existence of a selective morality – specifically destined to correct feminine sins – of Judaic tradition and origins, newly impelled since the medieval era. At heart, a specific morality that the Baroque culture would attempt to preserve in its eagerness to ratify the basic values of the social system: the inequality of the social order and that between men and women.<br><br>A finales del XVII, continuaba la literatura moral destinada a la población femenina. No estando ya en su apogeo, aún contemplaba la aparición de ediciones destinadas a la salvación de almas, esencialmente las más necesitadas –las mujeres– por ser consideradas más <i>«frágiles»</i>. Entre ellas, hacia 1670, vería la luz una obrita de significativo título: <i>«Noticias muy necesarias que deben todos saber para que les sea fácil el camino del cielo, pues por no saberlas y executarlas, pudiendo, se han condenado un sinnúmero de almas, particularmente de las señoras y demás mujeres»</i>. Su autor, Pedro de Jesús, representaba la continuidad de las corrientes misóginas tan al uso entre los moralistas, predicadores y confesores de entonces.
 Su mensaje: la existencia de una moral selectiva –específicamente destinada a corregir pecados femeninos– de tradición judaica y orígenes, nuevamente impulsados, desde el Medioevo. En el fondo, una moral específica que la cultura del Barroco pretendería conservar en un afán por ratificar los valores básicos del sistema social: la desigualdad de los grupos sociales y la propia de hombres y mujeres.

Cosmopolitan Fantasies, Aesthetics, and Bodily Value: W. E. B. Du Bois's <em>Dark Princess</em> and the Trans/Gendering of KautilyaVermonja R Alston (2011-03-01)<p>The recent turn to a transnational American literary cosmopolitanism, coupled with efforts to move beyond what Paul Gilroy calls “ethnic absolutes,” have generated a resurgence of interest in W. E. B. Du Bois’s 1928 romance novel, Dark Princess. In addition, the last two decades have witnessed tentative movements to bridge the gap between American ethnic studies and postcolonial studies. This essay begins with the premise that there are compelling reasons to reread Dark Princess in light of twenty-first century debates about postcolonialism and cosmopolitanism, but it also points to some of the hazards of reading the novel outside of the social and aesthetic politics of the decades between the two world wars. The main part of this paper is an attempt to address the gendered and sexualized body politics of Du Bois’s aesthetic practices through an analysis of his essay “Criteria of Negro Art” and his novel Dark Princess. Allusions in the novel to the fourth-century BCE Indian political philosopher Kautilya and his treatise Arthasâstra suggests that Du Bois’s naming of his princess, Kautilya, was neither accidental nor insignificant. This trans/gendering of Kautilya speaks to a gender and sexual politics inherent to German theories of the aesthetic, to which Du Bois remained wedded. Scholarly fantasies of cosmopolitanism tend to ignore the extent to which such fantasies depend upon ideologies of family and the reproductive bodies of women.</p>
