Abstract
This study is a critical discussion of some of Brentano's arguments in favour of the idea that feeling and judgement are two distinct "fundamental classes". The author outlines Brentano's arguments against the neo-Kantian Wilhelm Windelband, his main adversary on the question, and then points out some weaknesses in it. In conclusion he suggests that Windelband's standpoint is much more convincing than Brentano's alternative.
