Proceeding from the assumption that moral discourse is best conceived of as a practice in the technical sense specified by John Rawls, this paper discusses whether it is possible, adequate or even necessary to take up a legislative perspective on the constitutive rules of the practice. There seem to exist two principal legislative manoeuvres with respect to practices, namely (a) rendering the practice under consideration compatible with a practice that is more important and (b) evaluating the constitutive rules of the practice with respect to its point, purpose or telos. I put under scrutiny two projects in normative ethics which offer an affirmative answer regarding the possibility of moral legislation and which make use of the respective manoeuvres, namely neo-Hobbesian contractarianism and ruleconsequentialism. I thereupon inquire into the merits of a position that draws upon broadly Wittgensteinian considerations and that denies the existence of such a thing as a legislative perspective on morality.Date

Cuando la acción moral no provoca admiración sino resentimiento: el rechazo del rebelde moralAitziber Pascual; Susana Conejero; Itziar Etxebarria (Aposta, 2022-04-01)La observación de acciones moralmente ejemplares normalmente provoca emociones positivas (admiración, respeto…) respecto a quien las realiza. Cuando las acciones son especialmente costosas o inusuales puede provocar incluso elevación moral, una emoción que conlleva deseos de estrechar el contacto con quien así actúa, de emular su conducta y de ser mejor persona. Sin embargo, no siempre es así. En ocasiones la acción del rebelde moral, la persona que no acepta permanecer en silencio o adaptarse a lo que hacen los demás cuando ello contraviene sus principios y valores, provoca rechazo, resentimiento. En este texto se revisa la investigación actual sobre este fenómeno paradójico: los estudios empíricos que lo avalan, cómo puede explicarse, las estrategias defensivas que se ponen en marcha frente al rebelde moral y las características personales de los rebeldes morales. Finalmente, se reflexiona sobre las implicaciones del rechazo del rebelde moral tanto para este como para el grupo social.

Extension du domaine de l’éthiqueOgien, Ruwen (Département d'anthropologie de l'Université LavalÉrudit, 2009)Certaines recherches récentes sur l’universalité morale partent de l’idée que nos jugements moraux sont composés d’intuitions morales (réactions immédiates, non réfléchies) et de rationalisations morales (constructions intellectuelles destinées à donner des justifications socialement acceptables à nos actions). Elles aboutissent à la conclusion que l’universalité morale existe seulement au niveau intuitif. Dans cet article, L’objectif est de montrer que cette hypothèse n’est pas justifiée, en concentrant mon attention sur le problème des intuitions relatives à l’extension du domaine de l’éthique. Dans l’état présent du débat, il n’y a aucun argument décisif en faveur de l’universalité de ces intuitions morales, ni même en faveur de la distinction entre intuitions et rationalisations morales qui est à la base de ces analyses empiriques de l’universalité morale. En conclusion, l’universalité morale n’est pas empirique mais normative.

An Analytical and Critical View of Reid’s Ethical IntuitionismAli Akbar Abdolabadi (University of Tabriz, 2013-06-01)In this paper, I have tried to present, by a descriptive – analytic method, an analytical description of, the eighteenth century Scottish philosopher, Thomas Reid's ethical theory - which is known as "Common-Sense Intuitionism" – on the way of perceiving and acknowledging the moral values and norms, and through this analytical description, answering these two questions: "How far does the scope of Reid's ethical intuitionism contain?" and "What is Reid's explanation of the origin of moral error?" With reference to the above-mentioned analytical description, and by clarifying some of the pros and cons of Reid's ethical theory, I have tried to show, first, "Whether Reid's ethical theory is a justified, defensible and acceptable theory in justifying the validity of ethical knowledge?" And then, “Whether Reid's explanation of the origin of men's moral error is a sufficient explanation?"
