Abstract
Library records and their utilization are described and the various types of file organization available are examined. The serial file with a series of inverted indexes is preferred to the simple serial file or a threaded list file. It is shown how various records should be stored, according to their utilization, in the available storage devices in order to achieve optimum cost-performance.Date
