[[abstract]]The pursuit of well-being in working life has been a significant subject concerned by organizational psychologists as well as an important goal for personal career life. Especially the negative experience in workplace is always one of the tough issues employees have to be confronted with. Though it’s necessary to try after treatment or cope with severe impacts on employee’s health or organizational performance, the more important is to take preventive approach to explore how an employee can effectively deal with negative experience and promote sense of well-being. From the perspectives of cognitive treatment, Zhong-Yong thinking is not only the important ethics and morality but also critical life wisdoms and practical reason to be used as an ideal strategy to cope with negative events. However, though Zhong-Yong thinking is getting more attentions, only few studies were found in the literature of Chinese organizations. Therefore, this study will take approach of social cognitive neuroscience in two years to explore the main effect of Zhong-Yong thinking on sense of well-being and the moderating effect on negative experience. In the first year, the study will start with investigation on at least 225 dyads of supervisor-subordinate to explore the direct effect of Zhong-Yong thinking on the well-being in workspace (including subjective, psychological, other-oriented, and comfortable well-being) and the moderating effect on negative experience (including organizational politics, authoritative leadership, and work stress). In the second year, the study will take fMRI experiment in neuroscience using both between-subject and within-subject designs respectively to explore the brain activity in the face of negative emotions and decision dilemma with comparisons between before and after Zhong-Yong thinking practicing. The purpose of this study is to make contributions to theory and practice in psychological health and adaption for employee in the face of work stress.
