Landwirtschaft findet Stadt

Abstract

In dieser Arbeit wurde der Zusammenhang zwischen dem von der FAO
 verfassten Konzept der Nahrungssicherheit und urbaner Landwirtschaft in
 Lima, der Hauptstadt Perus, untersucht. Genauer wurde sich auf vier der
 Hauptargumente aus dem Konzept von Nahrungssicherheit konzentriert, und
 zwar den physischen und ökonomischen Zugang zu Nahrung, die Stabilität
 dieses Zugangs und die gesundheitlichen Aspekte von Nahrung.
 Im Zuge der Untersuchungen wurden Interviews mit 15 Personen in vier
 unterschiedlichen urbanen Gärten durchgeführt. Die untersuchten Gärten
 sind auf drei Bezirke Limas verteilt. In all diesen Bezirken unterhält oder
 unterhielt die Regierung Programme zur Unterstützung der urbanen
 Landwirtschaft.
 Allen Befragten ist ihr sozioökonomischer Status gemein. Sie alle sind von
 Armut betroffen und haben kein oder nur geringes Einkommen. Die
 angebauten Produkte werden von allen Befragten sowohl für den
 Eigenkonsum als auch für den Verkauf verwendet. Aufgrund des kleinen
 Maßstabs urbaner Landwirtschaft wird der Bedarf an Nahrung jedoch nicht
 komplett gedeckt, noch erzielt der Verkauf der Produkte ein hohes
 Monatseinkommen.
 Doch der physische und öknomosche Zugang zu Nahrung wird durch das
 Betreiben urbaner Landwirtschaft für die daran beteiligten Menschen erhöht,
 die Stabilität durch das Versorgungsnetz der Regierung und die Gesundheit
 der Produkte durch ökologische Anbaumethoden erzielt. Somit steht urbane
 Landwirtschaft in engem Zusammenhang mit Nahrungssicherheit und
 beeinflusst diese positiv.

For this thesis, research has been undertaken to investigate whether there is
 a connection to be found between the FAO’s concept of Food Security and
 urban agriculture in Lima, the capitol of Peru. More specifically, this task
 concentrates on four of the Food Security concept's main arguments, which
 are the physical and economic access to food, the access' stability and health
 aspects of food.
 In the course of the research, fifteen people, who are involved in four different
 urban gardens, were questioned. The gardens that have been investigated
 are located in three different districts of Lima. In all of these districts, the
 government is or was keeping programs to support urban agriculture.
 One aspect all respondents have in common is their socioeconomic status.
 They all live in poverty and have little, if any income. All interviewees use the
 cultivated food for both, their own needs and for sale. However, due to the
 small size of the fields, their own needs aren’t fully covered nor are there
 much income made with the sale.
 There is evidence that through urban agriculture, people are gaining higher
 physical and economic access to food and that the stability to this access is
 provided by the government’s support and supply. Health impact is raised
 through organic farming in all investigated urban gardens and a strong and
 positive connection between urban agriculture and Food Security is clearly
 visible.
