This guide includes directions and a list of stops for the Manzanita Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains of California. Hikers can follow the trace of the Punchbowl Fault and see a variety of features, including fault gouge, slickensides and easy-to-identify juxtapositions of quite different rock types on either side of the fault. The trail also passes through many vegetation zones, which exhibit a variety of plant communities.
