Abstract
Bone stresses are considered good indicators of the ecology and of the activity of ancient human populations. Within the large categories of bone injuries, Osteoarthritis (OA) has a very debated position. At present OA is a frequent pathology with a multifactorial etiology and a complex clinics. The finding of nine individuals with OA in the clavicles in a sample of 31 individuals from a Early Christian cemetery in Marsala (Sicily) stimulated a discussion on OA as a marker of activity in past populations.
