[[abstract]]With abundant Ecological resources, the national forest regions which management by the Forestry Bureau possesses diverse potential in wide aspects while fragile due to its environmental sensitivity. Other than safety considerations, the management measures in these areas should also aim at environmental preservation and rehabilitation. To fulfill the requirement for physical treatments, a set of reference construction drawing by using thinning wood has been completed by the Forestry Bureau in 2005 to 2006, and used in national forest lands in addition. In order to improve the practical performance of above-mentioned construction drawings, the study of this year plan to focus on the formulation of construction standards and cost estimate sheets for design and engineering inspection use. In addition, several sites will be chose as demonstration areas by introducing reference construction drawing and construction standards. The contents of this study covers the integration and review of relative researches, case study on thinning wood utilization, construction standards of thinning wood structures, spread sheets of labor and material analysis, cost estimate sheets, as well as the critical points needing attention in design and construction processes. The key works of this study including: 1. To develop a set of wood structure construction criteria used in planning, design and construction periods, as well as the follow-up monitoring and evaluation operation processes in completion stage which suitable for national forestry areas with ecological thinking. 2. Draw up reference engineering drawing applies to national forestry areas with ecological concepts.3. Collocating and applying developed wood structure ideas in chosen sites, according to terrain and environmental features, to treat as forestry management demonstration areas.4. To promoting the utilization of thinning wood in national forestry areas, a practical training will be held in the end of this study, and a series of compilation, including study report, teaching materials, construction drawing and standards, cost estimate sheets will be compiled in paper and compact disk types.
