Abstract
(Uncorrected OCR) Abstract As the title of this research is omputer ethics: Youth attitude and behavior in digital piracy a quantitative research based on the data extracted from a data set of a study on the Influence of Information Technology on Hong Kong Youths carried out by the researchers of the Centre of Information Technology in School and Teacher Education (CITE) of the Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong was conducted to investigate youth attitude and behavior in digital piracy with focus on software piracy and downloading of MP3 or graphics. Exploration on relationship of demographic factors (such as age, gender, education level) and computer usage pattern with youth attitude and behavior in digital piracy was carried out in the present study. Besides, the composite model of attitude-behavior relation found from the literature was modified with the integration of Kohlberg stages of moral development to form the base of the theoretical framework in this research. The research findings were analyzed to reflect the real situation of digital piracy in our society and then give recommendations to schools on implementation of new IT-related ethical subjects. Finally, limitations and implications of this research were presented to give footprints for future research. 12Date
