Abstract
Value adding can be defined as "Providing additional benefits beyond the basic features of the service or product". This paper will focus on what constitutes a positive learning experience for an online learner and how online educators and trainers can value add to the basic education product. The paper will explore the benefits of value adding to the organisation or educational institution. It will discuss value added features that can be added within the online learning environment. It will also discuss how educators can make the transition from the traditional classroom into the cyberspace classroom an enjoyable and enriching experience? The processes developed to enhance the learning experience- Preparation, Planning and Playback (evaluation) The paper will also identify and discuss what features and benefits will persuade the student to re-enrol in further online study e.g. customer service, customer retention strategies, communication, convenience, and cutting edge offering. Finally, the benefits that the student can gain from being involved in an online learning community, which will include peer-to-peer learning and mentoring, will be reviewed. Definitions Value-added can be defined as "Adding value to a product with a cluster of intangibles and innovations that truly improve the product's value in the customer's eyes " (Manning Reece 1992).Date
