This report aims map the creation process of distance education courses at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina [IFSC]) via praxis analysis. To this end, a qualitative, applied case-study was developed. Data collection involved passive observation of meetings for course creation, document analysis and interview of a course Coordinator. The main results indicate that a formal and consequently mapped process for creating distance education courses in IFSC did not exist. Thus, this process had usually been carried out in a tacit manner, which often led to some steps being forgotten, which delayed the project as a whole. In this context, this research proposed a process map using a flowchart (Workflow technique); identifying each of the steps, process flow and decision points. The proposed map went through two stages of consolidation and validation, first by the IFSC project team and subsequently by the Dean of undergraduate studies team. The proposed map will now be disseminated and used in order to improve organization and reduce resource demands at the creation stage of distance learning courses. Date
