Abstract
This article discusses theories that may ground the choice to make use of Hollywood comedy movies to
teach Deontology and Ethics in Pharmacy courses. Five films have been used to support a case study employed
as final evaluation of a course. An exploratory study and the observation of the pedagogical practice
along the years of 2012 and 2013 have shown its applicability. The use of film in teaching practices may
be justified by its potential as media, by its capacity to disseminate scientific education and in the specific
situation of comedy movies, by the power of social critique that the comicalness of professions holds and by
the appropriation of Snyder´s Pedagogy of Joy as a fruitful way towards Humanistic Education.
