dc.description.abstract“Classless learning” takes place when the provision supports the learner regardless of their background or learning preferences. This article draws together the concepts of “quality in e-learning” and that of “classless learning” bringing a better understanding of ideas. Quality is a process of interaction between all the elements inside the e-learning system and identifies the requirements placed on system designers to consider all the elements involved with e-learning if they wish to accomplish such quality in e-learning systems. Classless refers to overcoming the exclusionary pressures and to resisting segregation in order to end an era of discrimination of learners in the way they learn upon their styles and preferences.
A model of e-learning is proposed as a framework for clarifying the purposes of various methods and techniques used to capture the multidimensional aspects of quality in e-learning systems. It clarifies the relationships between the various design and evaluation activities in quality e-learning development and it provides guidance to accomplish and evaluate quality for e-learning designers. The extension of the model to encompass the concept of "classless" provision identifies important inclusion issues such as personalisation, student centeredness, learner voice and learners’ preferred learning styles.
