AbstractDescribes the Physics and Astronomy Department's assessment activities for the academic year 2010-2011.
The Physicals and Astronomy Department's annual assessment report to the College for the Office of Academic Assessment. The report details the assessment activities of the department. To assess the program, Juniors and Seniors take in the Fall and Spring semester respectively an exam developed by the department which covers the material of the freshman and sophomore years (juniors), and the ETS Majors comprehensive test(seniors). For the core courses, the department writes specific questions that assess student learning of the course objectives (CO) and embed them in midterms and finals. The department then assesses student learning on specific student-learning objectives (SLOs), using a course-alignment matrix that connects COs to SLOs.
