AbstractThe purpose of this article is to clarify some problems to be solved in the future by looking back upon 40 years of Industrial Arts in junior high school. The article is divided into four parts. 1. In the field of educational objective, the cause and the reason of the vagueness of the educational objective are explored. Secondly the changes from the equal education to the same education are described. It is considered what measures should be taken to make the objective clear. 2. In the field of educational contents, the view point of contents selection is investigated. Secondly the changes of each field are summalized. School curriculum is now based on "Course of Study", but the importance of the shift to SBCD (School-Based Curriculum Developement) is emphasized. 3. In the field of educational method, the reason why it adopts Project Method is shown clearly. Secondly the relations between lessons and teaching materials are considered. The importance of studying the educational method scientifically is pointed out. 4. In the field of physical conditions and teachers, the fullness situation of the work shop of Industrial Arts is summarized. Secondly the equipment fullness situation of Industrial Arts is summarized. The situation of in-service training of Industrial Arts teachers and its centers are described.
