Abstract
In My Dream Last Night (Of the Allied Victory Ball) Verse: Last night I was tired out In my bed I tossed about, And I had without a doubt, A most peculiar dream, It seemed that I was far away in France Where peace was being signed. While diplomats surrounded me Here’s what ran through my mind. Refrain: There was a jazz band that came from the U. S. A. And while they played, The people swayed. A Belgian maiden in a brand dew frock Balled the Jack and did the Eagle Rock Italian Jimmie shook the shimme With his Mariutch. A little French girl danced a naughty ooh la la. With sweet papa, Comm si commsa. You could hear the cheering for about a mile, When Mister Woodrow Wilson led me down the aisle. In my dream last night of the Allied victory ball. Verse: When the dancing it was o’er, In the center of the floor, Ev’ry one shook hands and swore, They’d never fight again, And then they opened fifty quarts of wine And we drank it by the cup. They all proposed a toast to me And then I woke up. R
