Abstract
Since its release on 30 August, 1995, the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance's draft new code of ethics for journalists has been condemned by many critics as too long and too vague to be of practical use in the workplace. This article examines each of these charges individually to conclude that while the draft code appears to be successful in encouraging industry-wide reform at an external level, its aspirations do not provide clear guidelines for on-the-run application.Date
