The article, “Who are the Children of Abraham? Reflections on Identity and Hybridisation in Hellenistic Judaism”, explores how a core set of terms in the discourse about Jewishness in Antiquity is being renegotiated in various ways by Jews as well as Christians. This happens in a Diaspora context where the redefining of boundaries and identity markers was especially urgent not only in situations of conflict but also in everyday life. Special attention is given to 4 Maccabees, a 1 century CE Jewish martyrology.Date
