Abstract
~Today it is difficult to date the materials of the wall, as the same construction technique was always used along the centuries. The only exception is the northern casements constructed in the Late Antiquity, between the 4th and 6th centuries. The Muslims built new fortifications and a castle to protect the town from rival Muslim and Christian states.Date
The town has been fortified since pre-historic times; current walls date from Late Antiquity (4th-6th centuries) and the Islamic period (8th-13th centuries); Fortifications reinforced in late 13th centuryType
