The article focuses on the ethics and knowledge of intellectuals and redefining their roles in the present context. Intellectuals historically have been a source of controversy because of the political positions they have taken, today it is the pursuit of knowledge that has become problematic Hence the role of the intellectual has become increasingly controversial. This development has made life especially difficult for university researchers. Ethics committees have sought to contain the risks associated with research, and to make the roles of intellectuals more amenable to contemporary culture.Date
