Abstract The assignment of this project is to narrow down the different usages of the historical phenomenon Saladin. Saladin is considered as one of the most influential characters during the medieval ages. As the war for the Holy City was waged, Saladin gathered the divided Muslim population in the region and had them fight united under one banner. Although Saladin at that time were considered as an enemy to the Christians, to this day he is still portrayed as a great and benevolent leader. The intention of this assignment is to highlight the different roles this character has played throughout time. Saladin has been relevant since the beginning of the clash of civilization and this project will try to elaborate on this relevance. In order to do this task, different representations of Saladin was collected. To ensure the representations was not too akin to each other, different sources and media were used. In each of their respective media, they each depict Saladin in their own way and form. To analyse these different depictions, vairous methods and theories was used for applying the use of history in a modern day context.Date
