Abstract
The author has examined the peculiarities of medieval Japan’s dairy prose; in particular the Buddhism impact and different author’s attitude to it were revealed. Dairy prose is the most penetrated by religious principles of Shinto and Buddhism literature, so that it can become the base for studies of spiritual life of Japanese people. As a result the main art features of diary prose as a genre, among them innuendo, love to beautiful and natural things, which are identical according to Japanese people’s insight, moreover permeatedness of inconstancy of the world were detected.
