El artículo se inicia con la puesta al día de los datos epidemiológicos respecto de la incidencia del aborto, especialmente en la actual sociedad española. En el trabajo se distinguen tres apartados de esas posibles relaciones entre la Interrupción Voluntaria del Embarazo (IVE) y la psicopatología: (a) en el nuevo comportamiento sexual emergente, especialmente entre los jóvenes, y en los factores psicopatológicos posiblemente condicionantes de su comportamiento sexual; (b) en el contexto psicológico y psicopatológico en que se toma la decisión de abortar, tanto en lo que se refi ere a los factores condicionantes de la pareja, como de las familias de origen y del contexto social; y (c) en los frecuentes trastornos psicopatológicos que parecen derivarse del aborto, de acuerdo con los recientes datos comunicados por numerosos investigadores de la comunidad científi ca internacional. El estudio del así llamado Síndrome Post- Aborto (SPA) pone fi n a esta colaboración, distinguiendo el perfi l psicopatológico característico que distingue a las diversas etapas de este síndrome". ["The author explores the possible relationship between psychopathology and abortion. The paper starts with the updating of epidemiological data regarding the incidence of abortion, especially in the current Spanish society. In this partnership there are three sections in the study of these possible relations between the abortion and the psychopathology: (a) in the new emerging sexual behaviour, especially among young people, and psychopathological factors possibly determining their sexual behaviour; (b) in the psychological and psychopathological context that makes the decision to abort, in regard to the factors of the couple and their families of origin and social context, and (c) in the frequent psychopathological disorders that seem to arise from the abortion, according to recent data reported by many researchers in the international scientifi c community.
