In his work, Tafsir Al-Manar, Abduh made Al-Quran interpretation as a tool to reform Muslim world. The author shows that Abduh’s interpretation on the Al-Quran was influenced by Western thought especially rationalism to get the meaning of the Quranic verses, beside the unity of the values and meaning of the Quranic verses. With this method, Abduh gave more priority to the understanding directly to the Quranic verses than following the interpretation of certain madzhab especially the verses that have many possible meanings. As a result, the author concludes that Abduh’s interpretation is the continuance from the previous interpretation which indicates the difference and change particularly in the matter of using ratio and independence from religion madzhabs.indWith permission of the license/copyright holdertafsir al-quranmuslim cultureIntegrationCultural ethicsCultural/intercultural ethicsReligious ethicsSpirituality and ethicsMethods of ethicsPhilosophical ethicsPerubahan Budaya dalam Tafsir Al-Qur’anJournal volume
