Kotagede Sub-district is dominated by residential area. The purpose of this research is 1) to examine the types of environmental damage of groundwater waters as a result of human activities in terms of abiotic, biotic and cultural aspects; 2) Determine the level of environmental damage of groundwater waters in terms of abiotic, biotic and cultural components as the basis for formulating the environmental management strategy of ground water waters; 3) Prepare a groundwater aquatic environmental management strategy as the basis for environmental conservation. This research used descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods through observation, laboratory analysis and in-depth interviews. The location of settlements is divided into 4 zones that is new settlement zone, old, history and settlement of silver craftsmen. Assessment of the environmental damage level of the abiotic component is performed using the Pollution Index value. The results of this study illustrate that groundwater contamination in Kotagede District generally comes from human activities, namely domestic activities. Groundwater damage level status indicates that almost all settlement zones are mild pollutants and parameters that exceed the quality standard are Nitrate and Coliform parameters. Environmental Management Strategy of groundwater waters in Kotagede District is by doing counseling and education to the public on the importance of maintaining groundwater quality. Management strategy can be done by maintaining the cleanliness of the settlement environment from domestic garbage piles, maintaining sanitation around dug well either from household waste or livestock, making dug well and recharge according to prevailing regulations and managing and maintaining water drainage, recharge and septic tanks for avoiding pollution to ground water environment.indAll rights reservedenvironmental management strategysettlementsdomestic wastegroundwaterMethods of ethicsPhilosophical ethicsCommunity ethicsEnvironmental ethicsResources ethicsEthics of global commonsKajian Kerusakan Lingkungan Perairan Airtanah Akibat Limbah Domestik di Kecamatan Kotagede, Daerah Istimewa YogyakartaPreprint
