Included in this total are 1,253,041 classical Pentecostals; 5,032,741 Charismatics; and 27,234,219 Neocharismatics.1 It is not the purpose of this essay to provide a comprehensive history of Indian Pentecostalism. Rather, it will examine pre-twentieth century examples of Pentecostalism in India, followed by a brief overview of the emergence of the classical Pentecostalism, the Charismatic and the Neocharismatic movements, together with four illustrative case studies illustrative of the several waves of the Indian renewal."engWith permission of the license/copyright holderPentecostalismIndiaCharismaticNeocharismaticHistoriographicChristian denominationsPentecostal, CharismaticGlobal Church History and World Christianity20th centuryPentecostalism in IndiaArticle
