Abstract
"La libertad de religión o de creencias es un derecho humano básico. A pesar del sólido apoyo que le han dado diversos instrumentos internacionales a los derechos universales durante los últimos cincuenta años, comenzando con la Declaración universal de los derechos humanos de 1948 e incluyendo el Pacto internacional sobre derechos civiles y políticos de 1966, la Declaración sobre la eliminación de todas las formas de intolerancia y de discriminación basadas en la religión o las creencias de 1981, y la Declaración de los derechos de las personas que pertenecen a minorías étnicas, religiosas y lingüísticas de 1992, siguen ocurriendo numerosas violaciones de este derecho, lo cual es de deplorar" ["Freedom of religion or belief is a basic human right.
