Abstract
This article tries to explain the economic ethos of Tarekat Shiddiqiyyah in Jombang, East Java. Tarekat Shiddiqiyah is mysticism organization or congregation built by Kyai Moch. Muchtar ibn Haji Abdul Mu’thi in Jombang in 1959. Beside focusing on religious teaching, this tarekat also concerns in economic life for the sake of the followers and surrounding community. Some economic activities of Tarekat Shiddiqiyyah i.e. Maqo water production, mini market, magazine, cigarettes, etc. The author argues that this phenomenon proves that opinion said congregation as a scapegoat in the deterioration of Islam is not entirely true. The author also states that economic activities in Tarekat Shiddiqiyah are considered as a manifestation practice of congregation itself such as zuhud and implementation of Surah al-Ma’un.
