Abstract
"Quando em Junho de 2007 o Conselho Nacional de Ética para as Ciências da Vida (cnecv) elaborou o seu Parecer n.º 52 sobre o “Regime Jurídico da Base de Dados de Perfis de a.d.n.” vários factores coexistiam: por um lado, a existência da tecnologia e conhecimentos necessários à construção dessa realidade e a legislação já existente na Europa. Por outro, a necessidade de reforçar a segurança dos cidadãos dotando os Estados de meios mais seguros e simultaneamente eficazes para o combate da criminalidade não só no seu território, mas a nível internacional, justificando a constituição de um instrumento auxiliar em investigação criminal" ["When in June 2007 the National Council of Ethics for the Life Sciences (CNECV) issued its Opinion No. 52 on the "Legal Regime of dna profiles Base" coexisted several factors: on the one hand, the existence technology and expertise needed to build this reality and the legislation already existing in Europe.
