"Dieser Ethikkodex richtet sich an BIS-Einzelmitglieder sowie an alle Bibliothekare und Informationsfachleute in der Schweiz, ungeachtet ihrer beruflichen Qualifikationen und Tätigkeiten. Er dient zur beruflichen Standortbestimmung in der Informationsgesellschaft, parallel zu den Leitlinien der bibliothekarischen und dokumentarischen Einrichtungen. Letztere definieren Aufgabe und Funktionsweise der Informationseinrichtungen." ["This code of ethics is addressed to individual members of BIS and all librarians and information professionals active in Switzerland, regardless of their function and their professional qualifications. He determines their position in Information Society alongside the institutional charters of information services that guide the mission of these and define the operating principles."]
