Abstract
This article aims to describe the influence of waqf maintenance at Egypt toward the managing wealth of waqf in educational institution of Indonesia. The main point of this paper concerns about the Ijtihad in managing educational waqf in Islamic University of Indonesia and Darussalam Gontor Islamic Boarding School. The result shows that there is a significant influence in the management of waqf in Egypt toward the management of waqf in educational institution of Indonesia. It could be seen in maintenance and developing waqf that have been done by both Islamic University of Indonesia’s foundation of waqf and Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo Islamic institution’s foundation for waqf maintenance and enlargement. The concept of maintenance of waqf in those educational institutions is to create maslahah al-ammah, that means the advantage for all.
