Abstract
Thomas M. Lindsay was an eminent Scottish historian in the late 19th and early 20th centuries who contributed greatly to the field of Reformation Studies. As a loyal follower of Evangelical Protestantism,both his religious practice and academic research are deeply influenced by Evangelism. He was a follower and practitioner of the higher,or historical,criticism in Bible study,taking the Reformation as a starting point for studying and understanding the Scripture. According to his view, it was the Protestant Reformers who rediscovered and revitalized the Scripture,and made it a centerpiece and guide for Christian religious life,as a formal collection of knowledge and the ultimate source of theology. Scripture has become the direct revelation of the redeeming personal God for followers of Jesus Christ.
