Abstract
How can I live out my values and convictions in everyday life? How can I reconcile faith and action? How can we encourage one another in what we do instead of giving up to resignation? Such questions are at the centre of these 365 short texts, written out of and for everyday life: way-markers offering a sense of direction and encouragement. These aphorisms and reflections are centred around seven themes: 1. Creation, the senses and environment; 2. Good and evil, virtue and vice; 3. Life, energy and being human; 4. Poverty, wealth and justice; 5. Relationships, love and sexuality; 6. Economics, technology, globalisation, media; 7. Politics, globalisation, law, nationalism; 8. Spirituality, faith, knowledge, 9. Churches and religions.
Note(s)
These 365 aphorisms were written between May 2011 and December 2018. The texts 1-100 have been published as the book “Way-Markers. 100 Reflections Exploring Ethics in Everyday Life” (Globethics.net Publications, Ethics Praxis 2, Geneva 2014), the texts 101-211 as “Way-Markers II. 111 Reflections Exploring Ethics in Everyday Life” (Globethics.net Publications, Ethics Praxis 7, Geneva 2016). The further 153 texts 212-365 are published here for the first time. Together they now offer 365 texts for each day of the year.
