Abstract
"La Oroya es un pueblo andino del Perú. Encabeza una tabla muy peligrosa. Es uno de los diez lugares más tóxicos del planeta. Vivir allí es un peligro. Era un idílico y tranquilo poblado indígena. Se instaló en el pueblo una fundidora de plomo internacional. Infringió todas las disposiciones ambientales y una administración pública débil no veló porque las cumpliera. El 95 por ciento de los niños menores de 6 años del pueblo tiene niveles de plomo tóxicos en la sangre. Su salud está comprometida. Rosa Amaro, líder de un grupo ambientalista del lugar, declaró al New York Times que denunció este indudable “escándalo ético”: “No puedo entender por qué estamos expuestos a los riesgos de una inversión americana, pero no tenemos las protecciones ambientales que tienen los ciudadanos de EE.UU" ["The Oroya is an Andean village in Peru.
